Started in 2025, New Life Youth Mentoring is a community based mentoring program that partners with local churches to match middle school students at Mackinaw Trail Middle School in Cadillac, MI, with safe and caring adult mentors. Mentors will be vetted, screened, and trained, and desire to support our teens for a period of at least one year.
Our Board
Sarah Brennan
Sarah Brennan is a former elementary and middle school teacher who is passionate about helping youth reach their full potential. She is a graduate of North Park University with a B.A.in Education. She loves to read and be outdoors. Sarah and Steve have been married for fifteen years and have three children.
Steve Brennan
Steve Brennan is a Family Physician at Cadillac Primary Care. He is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University with a B.S. in Biblical Literature and a graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Steve is an avid duck hunter and wood worker. Sarah and Steve have been married for fifteen years and have three children.
Pastor Gil Thibault
Gil Thibault serves as the lead pastor at Cadillac First Church of the Nazarene. He is a graduate of Eastern Nazarene College with a B.A. in Music and Communications and a graduate of Nazarene Theological Seminary with a Masters of Divinity. Gil has been married to Sarah, the love of his life and much better half, for 24 years and they have three wonderful children.
Rachel Potter
Rachel Potter is a piano teacher, pianist, and mom of 3 amazing kiddos. She and her husband, Bob, grew up in the Cadillac area, and are so grateful to still call it home. Rachel loves spending time outdoors (in all of the seasons!), reading a good book, and spending time with her family.
Certification
New Life Mentoring operates under the certification of Christian Association of Youth Mentoring (CAYM). A CAYM certification indicates we are committed to conducting our work in a way that will safely and effectively strengthen youth, their families, and our community.
